Who We Are
We are a community of University of Melbourne alumni connected by a shared appreciation for Chinese culture and heritage. Our aim is to foster belonging, cultural exchange, and professional connection within the alumni network.
Our group includes:
- UoM alumni with Chinese cultural backgrounds
- Mandarin, Cantonese, or other Chinese dialect speakers
- Individuals from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, and the wider Chinese diaspora
- Anyone who identifies with or values Chinese culture and language
We celebrate both shared heritage and diversity, and welcome all who wish to connect through culture and community.

Where We Are?
Strong Momentum and Community Growth
Since launching in 2024, our network has grown rapidly — with 544 active members in Melbourne and 266 in Sydney. This reflects strong demand for a culturally connected alumni community. We host monthly events like social drinks, reading clubs, and sports groups, creating space for connection, wellness, and career conversations.
Vision
A community for Chinese alumni to grow, belong, and lead.
Begin hosting informal events: social drinks, sports, and community chats.
Build early traction and validate demand for a culturally connected alumni group.
Build presence in Melbourne, Sydney.
Host regular events to engage early-career alumni and recent grads.
Roll out a simple CRM system to manage alumni connections. Scale marketing efforts across platforms.
Become the default post-graduation community for Chinese-speaking students.
Collaborate with faculties and other alumni chapters.
Establish the group as a cultural and strategic bridge between alumni and the University.
2024 Initiate & Test
- Launch the group organically via WeChat and peer networks.
- Begin hosting informal events: social drinks, sports, and community chats.
- Build early traction and validate demand for a culturally connected alumni group.
2025 Grow the Community
- Expand to 1,000+ active members across WeChat, LinkedIn, and RedBook.
- Build presence in Melbourne, Sydney.
- Host regular events to engage early-career alumni and recent grads.
2026 Support Students & Strengthen Our Presence
- Introduce student support programs: orientation, job market guidance, mentorship.
- Roll out a simple CRM system to manage alumni connections.
- Scale marketing efforts across platforms.
- Become the default post-graduation community for Chinese-speaking students.
2027 Expand Reach & Influence
- Attract more mid-to-senior alumni through tailored events and engagement.
- Collaborate with faculties and other alumni chapters.
- Establish the group as a cultural and strategic bridge between alumni and the University.
